A young carer is young person aged 5-16 who looks after someone who couldn\u2019t manage without their help. This could mean looking after a parent, brother or sister, grandparent or family friend who has a disability, long-term illness, or drug and alcohol related issues.<\/p>\n<p>As many as 1 in 12 pupils could be a young carer. We want to ensure that young carers at our school are effectively identified and get the recognition and support they deserve.<\/p>\n<p>We are encouraging parents and carers to let the school know if their child is a young carer, and we also invite student themselves to come forward and talk to us about their caring
