VACANCY – PARENT MEMBER OF THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE (VOLUNTARY)
The Bridge School is a Pupil Referral Unit catering for young people who have, due to their
challenging behaviour, either been:
• excluded from their high school
• been designated a place by the Local Authority because of their profile of behaviour and
attendance
• been allocated a place in order to proactively support the student to ready them for a
return to their high school placement.
The remit of the school is to provide an educational setting, or support, that will enable
students to build the skills to return to mainstream schooling, enable students to gain
qualifications that are reflective of their potential and commitment, and to prepare students
for the next phase of their education, employment or training.
The Bridge School Management Committee is wishing to appoint a Parent Representative.
This is an unpaid position that requires a commitment of at least one evening per school
term for committee meetings, and any additional time appropriate for monitoring the
provision of the school and its outcomes. This may be up to 3, one hour, visits per year.
The role of the Management Committee is strategic. The core functions of the Management
Committee are to:
• Ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
• Hold the Head Teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its
staff.
• Ensure the safety and welfare of its students and staff.
• Oversee the financial performance of the school, making sure its money is effectively
used.
The Committee is seeking a parent who is passionate about supporting a school structure
that will support the welfare and growth of the young people in our school community. If you
have the confidence to proactively contribute to, and challenge, the work of the Management
Committee and the school, we would be delighted to hear from you.
Please make contact with Nigel Hunt (Head Teacher), or Steve Hornby (Chair of the
Committee), via the School Office (01928-581301).
