The Bridge School @ 37: Vocational Learning Centre is excited to offer learners of all abilities the opportunity to experience high quality work based learning that helps to develop skills, increase independence and achieve accreditation through vocational pathways.

Hair & Beauty

Hair and Beauty offers learners to work within a fully functioning salon. Learners can practice and refine skills that are used in high street salons and barbers all of which allows for opportunities to achieve a NCFE L1 Occupational Studies for the Workplace.

Units include:

  • Styling women’s hair
  • Styling men’s hair
  • Colour hair using temporary colour
  • Nail art application
  • Basic make-up application

The NCFE Level 1 Occupational Studies for the Workplace qualifications have been designed for accreditation to the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) within Foundation Learning.

 

The qualifications are intended to be accessible to a wide range of learners of all abilities. Learners can develop a ‘hands on’ approach to their learning and gain practical skills, knowledge and understanding in their chosen vocational area(s). The skills, knowledge and understanding gained may help learners prepare for work through real or simulated work situations and may contribute to preparing them for working life beyond education.

Construction
& Joinery

Within construction learners are able to gain knowledge and experience that are key to being successful on any building site. Students are able study a number of units within a fully resourced workshop that allows for opportunities to achieve a NCFE L1 Occupational Studies for the Workplace.

Units include:

  • Developing bricklaying skills
  • Carpentry hand skills
  • Building a cavity wall

Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Engineering

Within mechanics learners are able to gain knowledge and experience that is vital in pursuing employment within the motor maintenance industry. Students are able study a variety of units within a fully resourced workshop that allows for opportunities to achieve a NCFE L1 Occupational Studies for the Workplace.

Units include:

  • Identification of basic external and internal car parts.
  • Motor vehicle workshop tools and equipment.
  • Health and safety practices in vehicle maintenance.
  • Introduction to vehicle valeting.
