Hair & Beauty

What is Hair & Beauty?

Hair and Beauty provide learners with the opportunity to work in a fully equipped, functioning salon environment. This allows them to develop and improve practical skills commonly used in professional salons and barbershops, while also working towards achieving an NCFE Level 1 Award in Occupational Studies for the Workplace. These qualifications are designed to be accessible to learners of all abilities. They encourage a practical, hands-on approach, allowing students to develop skills, knowledge, and understanding in their chosen vocational areas. The experience gained can help prepare learners for employment through real or simulated work environments and support their transition into working life beyond education.

What can you expect?

• Styling Hair – Learning how to create different hairstyles for women using tools and techniques such as blow-drying, curling, straightening, and braiding. Developing skills to style men’s hair using products and basic techniques to achieve neat, modern, or classic looks.

• Colour Hair Using Temporary Colour – Applying non-permanent hair colour products safely to change or enhance hair colour for a short time.

• Nail Art Application – Creating decorative designs on nails using polish, tools, and simple techniques while maintaining nail care and hygiene.

• Basic Make-up Application – Understanding how to apply natural, everyday makeup including foundation, eye makeup, and lipstick to enhance facial features
