Alternative Provision

At The Bridge School, we are committed to ensuring that all learners accessing Alternative Provision (AP) receive a high-quality education, appropriate support, and effective safeguarding. Our Quality Assurance (QA) framework is designed to evaluate the extent to which all external providers, whether registered or unregistered, meet our expected standards in safeguarding, curriculum delivery, attendance, and learner progress.

Our QA processes include:

  • Rigorous Vetting and Compliance – All alternative providers are subject to robust pre-placement checks, including safeguarding policies and procedures, staff DBS clearance, health and safety assessments, insurance documentation, and curriculum suitability.
  • Ongoing Monitoring and Review – We carry out regular site visits, quality assurance reviews, learner voice activities, and progress checks to ensure provision aligns with school values, SEND needs, attendance expectations, and behaviour standards.
  • Safeguarding and Welfare Oversight – Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) maintains regular communication with providers to ensure that attendance, behaviour, welfare, and emotional well-being are monitored effectively. Any safeguarding concerns are reported and escalated in line with statutory guidance and school procedures.
  • Training and Support – Our alternative providers receive targeted safeguarding training and have regular access to relevant whole-school training and updates.

By maintaining high expectations, clear accountability, and structured oversight, we ensure that Alternative Provision is not simply a placement, but a purposeful educational experience that enables learners to succeed, re-engage, and make positive progress.
