KEY STAGE 3
The Key Stage Three mathematics curriculum at The Bridge School is designed to provide a broad, balanced, and coherent experience that develops both confidence and competence in maths. Pupils study the key strands of number, algebra, ratio and proportion, geometry and measure, and statistics, ensuring they build secure foundations while also deepening their mathematical understanding. Lessons emphasise mathematical fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving, enabling students to apply their knowledge across a range of contexts and make meaningful connections between different areas of maths.

Central to the curriculum is a flexible, personalised approach that recognises the diverse needs and starting points of our students. Teaching is carefully adapted to identify and address gaps in prior learning, with targeted support and carefully structured activities helping students to consolidate core skills before moving on. At the same time, appropriate challenge is built in to allow pupils to extend their thinking and fulfil their potential in mathematics. Through this tailored approach, the curriculum aims to foster resilience, independence, and a positive attitude towards learning maths, preparing students for future study and everyday life.
